The risk of inhaling harmful dust

According to a recent publication by INAIL, the Italian National Insurance Agency, workers’ safety during waste collection and urban hygiene operations is affected by a high frequency of occupational illness. Among the most frequent causes cited are manual collection and manual sweeping, operations in which there is a high risk of breathing in harmful fine dust.

One of work phases that puts workers most at risk is during the unloading of collection means. When dirt is transferred from one container to another, the movement inevitably generates a cloud of airborne dust. During this phase, the operator is also very close to the bin where the dirt is being placed, leading not merely to a high risk but rather, unfortunately, a certainty that at least some dust will be inhaled.

The advantages of the ‘dirt-in-bag’ collection system

Many studies have now proven the harmfulness of dust and the significant health risks associated with it. But you will no longer have to worry about this issue. With the ‘dirt-in-bag’ collection system, you no longer need to emptying the dirt into bags for disposal, because the dirt is already in a bag.

This means no more dust particles from emptying the collection bin into another container or pouring the dirt into the special bags or bins. As the operator, all you have to do is pull out the practical bin trolley, close the bag, and you’re done.

• The collection bin of your sweeper will always be protected by the bag. You can dispose of special residues or wet waste independently, without dirtying your hands or the collection bin of the machine, which you would otherwise then need to clean. Wet or oily dirt or animal droppings will no longer be an issue.
